The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has instructed ration card holders to submit their copy of Aadhaar Card along with copy of Ration Card to PDS Shop, to continue getting benefits without any restrictions.
Ration Card consists identification number which is issued to eligible families under government-run Public Distribution System, Families holding this Ration Card gets food grains and other grocery items at affordable prices.

Process on How to Update Aadhaar Card Number on Ration Card
- To update your Aadhaar Card Number on Ration Card, the ration card holder will have to carry his or her Aadhaar Card Copy along with Ration Card Copy and submit it to PDS Shop.
- Remember that you will have to visit the same Public Distribution System Shop from where you bring your monthly food grains.
- The Public Distribution System (PDS) Shop will ask to place your finger on the fingerprint scanner device to authenticate your biometrics.
- If your fingerprints gets matched then it would successfully link your Aadhaar Card Number on Ration Card.
Like linking Aadhaar Card with Ration Card is recommended, linking Aadhaar with other schemes and services is also mandatory which in turn helps Government of India to track and remove fake and duplicates from the database.
