UIDAI is a sole body who issues Unique Aadhaar Number on basis of demographic and biometric data submitted of the resident.
However if there is any update to be done in your Aadhaar Card Address, it’s the Aadhaar Holder’s duty to get it updated online through Unique Identification Authority of India Official Website. In case if there are any other details to be changed rather than Address you should visit nearest Aadhaar Center in your location.
You should always keep active mobile number registered with your Aadhaar Card, as it will help the holder to use OTP Authentication Service, and in any case if your mobile number is not updated in your Aadhaar or mobile number which is already added in Aadhaar is no more active then you should get it updated as soon as possible. Same also applies with email id, keeping email id updated in your Aadhaar Card helps you to receive timely notifications and alerts about Aadhaar.
Below are some things which you should know about changing details in your Aadhaar Card:
Aadhaar Holder should keep his or her details updated in Aadhaar Card, which helps to avail all facilities provided by UIDAI without any problem.
Aadhaar Holder can update or correct address in Aadhaar Card Online through UIDAI Official Portal, the only need will be you should have mobile number updated in your Aadhaar to complete OTP authentication to do changes in your Address. This facility of updating Address through UIDAI Portal is only for those who have already enrolled for Aadhaar. Once submitting the Address Updated Request you can check the status of your address update in Aadhaar through same UIDAI Official Website by clicking on Check Status – Updation done Online.
Updating or Changing Details like Mobile Number, Email id, Biometrics, Gender, and Name cannot be done online as it requires biometric authentication of the Aadhaar Holder, which can only be updated by visiting nearest Aadhaar Center.
Once submitting update request of Address in your Aadhaar it would take 2 -3 weeks to process your request, on verification your Address would be updated in your Aadhaar Card and you would be able to download your Aadhaar Card with new address from UIDAI Official Portal Download Aadhaar Option. However you would also receive a new copy of Aadhaar Letter which would be sent to you on your postal address.

No response to my earlier post/ comment of about 3 months ago. My question is how to proceed on activating cancelled AADHAR in the absence of fingerprints. Even twice visiting designated bank etc my AADHAAR has not been authenticated ! Original AADHAR number is 284666518504 issued more than ten years ago.

Hello D S RAUTELA,
In case your Aadhaar is cancelled it can be only activated back by submitting valid proof of documents at nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center Near You. For authentication, the center would capture your iris or fingerprints and once the application gets verified then only your Aadhaar would be activated.
