To replace mother name instead of father name in Aadhar Online you will need to first make sure that you have mobile number registered with your Aadhaar and then secondly prepare your address proof documents and keep it ready scanned on your device.

You will need to submit address proof document because the C/O field is a part of Address and to make any changes in this field you will need to upload the address proof document.

Below are the list of accepted address proof documents for Aadhaar Update:

Passport, Bank Statement/ Passbook, Ration Card, Voter ID, Driving License, Government Photo ID Cards/ Service Photo Identity Card issued by PSU, Electricity Bill (not older than 3 months), Water Bill (not older than 3 months), Telephone Landline bill (not older than 3 months), Property Tax Receipt (not older than 3 months), Credit Card Statement (not older than 3 months), Insurance Policy, Signed Letter having Photo from Bank on letterhead,  Signed letter having photo issued by registered company on letterhead, signed letter having photo issued by recognized educational instruction on letterhead, NREGS Job Card, Arms License, Pensioner Card, Freedom Fighter Card, Kissan Passbook, CGHS/ ECHS Card, Certificate of address having photo issued by MP or MLA or Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on letterhead, Certificate of address issued by village panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas), Income Tax Assessment Order, Vehicle Registration Certificate, Registered Sale/ Lease/ Rent Agreement, Address card having photo issued by departments of posts, caste and domicile certificate having photo issued by state govt., disability ID Card/ handicapped medical certificate issued by the respective State/UT Governments/ Administrations, Gas Connection Bill (not older than 3 months), Passport Spouse, Passport of Parents (in case of minor).

From the above list of address proof documents you will need to keep only one document ready on your device scanned in .jpg, .pdf, .tiff, .jpeg, or .png, file format and the file size should not exceed 2 MB.

So to place the Aadhaar Update Request to replace mother name instead of father name in Aadhaar, just visit official UIDAI Website by accessing URL https://uidai.gov.in/

From the UIDAI Website homepage search for option update your address online and click on that link.

A new page will open which will display two option which is Proceed to Update Address and Request fir Address Validation Letter, from these two options click on Proceed to Update Address.

Next, you will need to log in using your 12 digit Aadhaar Number or VID Number. Just enter the VID or UID Number, solve the captcha code, and click on the send OTP button or TOTP button.

If you have selected send OTP then you will receive a one-time-password on your Aadhaar registered mobile number and if you have selected TOTP then you will need to generate the TOTP with mAadhaar App Installed on your phone.

Enter the TOTP or OTP and click on login button.

Once you are logged in, on next page two date update request options will be displayed which is have address proof and have address validation letter.

Just tick mark on I have address proof and click on submit button.

On next page you will be asked to enter in your address details, and there will be also field named C/O where you can mention your mother name. If your father’s name was present in your Aadhaar then now it will be replaced by your mother name.

Once filling up all details correctly, just click on submit update request.

On next page your submitted details will be previewed.

Just review the details and then tick mark on I confirm that I have read the instructions and the information provided by me to the UIDAI and the information contained herein is true, correct and accurate.

Next to proceed submitting the update request just click on proceed button.

On next page you will need to upload the address proof document, so just select the document from the list which you will be uploading and click on submit button.

A prompt will appear asking whether you have uploaded originals scan copies of the approved documents and is the documents attached as per UIDAI’s list of valid documents.

Just hit on yes button to proceed, next you will need to select the BPO and click on submit button.

Your Update Request Number for your Update Request will be generated and it will be displayed on the next page.

You can download the file for future reference.

Your request will be reviewed and approved by UIDAI Team which can take upto 3 months.

Once your details are updated you will be notified via SMS on your registered mobile number.

Visit nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra in your location with your existing Aadhaar, and documents.

Request for Aadhaar Update Application Form from the Seva Kendra, fill up the details asked in the form.

In the C/O field mention your mother’s name and complete the other details asked in the form.

Submit the form to the Aadhaar Operator and he or she will verify with your documents provided.

Your details mentioned in the form will be fed in the software and your biometrics will be captured for verification purpose.

You will be handed over with Aadhaar Update Receipt which you will need to keep with you.

The update request can take upto 1 day to 3 months to process, once your request gets approved and update gets reflected in your Aadhaar you will be notified via SMS.
