Change C/O to S/O or W/O in Aadhaar Card: Recently UIDAI has made lots of changes in its system and one of the major updates in Aadhaar was the relation details. Previously UIDAI used to provide several options to select from relation fields such as S/O, C/O, W/O or D/O, so by selecting these applicable fields the applicant could have mentioned their details accordingly.

If you don’t know the meaning of abbreviations like C/o, S/o, W/o, D/o in Aadhaar Card then below are the full form of such abbreviations:

C/o S/o D/o W/o full form in Aadhaar Card

c/o full form in Aadhar Card means Care of
s/o in Aadhaar means Son of
d/o in Aadhaar Card means daughter of
w/o in Aadhaar means wife of

Like if you want to mention your father’s name then you can select S/O or D/O, and if you wish to mention your husband’s then you could select W/O and in case of a guardian, you can select C/O.

But now these relation fields like s/o, d/o, w/o has been revised and only one field has been provided in Aadhaar which is c/o. So whatever relation details you may want to enter, you will now have to enter it by selecting the C/O field.

What to write in Care of in Aadhar Card

What to Enter in Care of in Aadhar Card: In C/O field you can mention your father’s name, husband’s name, guardian’s name, relative’s name, or your landlord name. In fact, if you don’t want to mention any of the relation details by selecting c/o, then you also have an option to keep this field blank.

How to Change C O to S O in Aadhar Card: Those residents who were enrolled or updated their Aadhaar earlier before this update, their Aadhaar will continue having S/O, W/O or D/O with relation details mentioned. But if you try to do any changes or update in your Address then you will have to mandatory change the relation details too as it is a part of the address field, and when you select relation details you will only get one option which is C/O.

So in case if you are still looking out for a solution on how to change c/o to s/o in Aadhaar Card or how to change c/o to w/o in Aadhaar Card or how to change c/o to d/o in Aadhaar Card then this option is no longer available via UIDAI Update Portal or Aadhaar Seva Kendra or in mAadhaar App. You will have to either stick with c/o by entering your relation details in this field or else you could keep relation details blank as it is one of the optional field.

S/o D/o or w/o in Aadhaar have now standardized it to c/o, but filling this field has kept as optional. However, if you wish to mention your father’s name or husband’s name then you can still use this c/o option and enter the details.

C/o in Aadhaar is not mandatory and if you want you can skip it, C/o details in the address are used for letter delivery purposes and is a part of the address.

How to remove c/o in aadhar card?

If you want to remove c/o in aadhar card, while filling up the Aadhaar update form or while filling the online update form leave the C/O field blank.

Why c/o not printed in aadhar?

If the applicant has not provided any information in the ‘C/O’ (Care Of) field on the form, the ‘C/O’ field will not appear or be printed on the Aadhar card issued to that applicant.

Is c/o and s/o same?

In the S/O field only Fathers name can be entered, where as C/O is standardized field where you can enter fathers name, husbands name, wife name, guardians name, etc.

  1. in EPFO office they not accepted c/o instead of s/o. since last 5 years due to c/o instead of s/o my pf uan is not linked with aadhar. Please take immediate action and give a information letter to EPFO that care of and s/o is same

  2. Nsdl is not accepting c/o printed on aadhar card and hence I can change my new address as my new aadhar card has c/o instead of s/o
