Process to Apply for Aadhaar Card in 2022

If you want to apply for Aadhaar you will have to make sure that you have the valid supporting documents with you. Below is the list of supporting documents that you will have to produce while enrolling for Aadhaar Card.

  8. Any other Central/ State government issued a family entitlement document
  9. Marriage Certificate issued by the government
  10. Address card having name and photo issued by Department of Posts
  11. Bhamashah card
  12. Discharge card/ slip issued by Government hospitals for the birth of a child
  13. Certificate of Identity having photo issued by MP or MLA or MLC or Municipal Councillor or Gazetted Officer on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/update
  14. Certificate of Identity having photo and relationship with HoF issued by Village Panchayat head or Mukhiya or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) on UIDAI standard certificate format for enrolment/ update
  • To enroll for Aadhaar make the above documents ready, you will need to carry these original documents along with you. From the above list, you don’t need to submit all the documents but from each category, you will need to provide one document.

Once you arrange the documents, the next thing which you will need to do is book an appointment online for your enrolment. Booking an appointment online for Aadhaar will make you entitled to skip the queue.

Below is the process clearly explained on how to book an appointment for Aadhaar Online.

Book Appointment Online to apply for Aadhar Card

Visit the UIDAI official website https://uidai.gov.in/

On the homepage just click on the Book an Appointment link

Appointment booking page will open

On appointment booking page two options will get displayed:

  1. Book an Appointment at UIDAI run Aadhaar Seva Kendra
  2. Book an Appointment at Registrar run Aadhaar Seva Kendra

Book an Appointment at UIDAI run Aadhaar Seva Kendra

If your City/Location is appearing in the list of the booking portal, then just select your City/Location from the list and click on the proceed to book appointment button.

New Enrolment Appointment at ASK

On the next page by default new enrolment will be selected, so you don’t need to make any changes there

In the below field enter your mobile number, solve the captcha code and click on on the Generate OTP button

Aadhaar Appointment OTP ASK

You will receive one-time-password on your mobile number

Enter the received OTP in the OTP code field and click on the verify OTP button

In the next screen, you will need to select your resident type from Resident or Non-Resident of India (NRI)

Once you select from resident type, just select Application Verification Type from document or HOF (if you have documents on your name then just select document or if you are enrolling on the basis on the head of the family then just select HOF)

Select your state from the list, and then the city and Aadhaar Seva Kendra from the list

Once selecting applicable details just click on the Next button

ASK Appointment Personal Details

On the next page, you will need to enter personal details and address details of the applicant like full name, select name proof document from the list which you will be submitting, gender, date of birth, date of birth proof documents which you will be submitting, email id, Pincode, village/town/city, Post office, District, State/ Province, C/O, House/Building No, Street/Road/Lane, Landmark, Area/Locality/Sector, select Address Proof document from the list and click on the Next button

On the next page, you will have to make a selection of appointment date and time as per available slots

Select the date and time from the available slots and click on the Next button

Ask Appointment Cofirmation

On the next screen, the details which you entered and selected will appear for a review

If the details are appearing correctly then just click on the submit button

Ask Appointment Confirm

A popup message will appear requesting you to “Please ensure all the filled information are correct. Once submitted, information cannot be edited. Do you want to continue?”

Just click on OK button to proceed

Your appointment for Aadhaar enrolment will be booked and the appointment details will be displayed

Ask Appointment Details with Form

Below there will a button to generate application form, just click on that generate application form and your Aadhaar enrolment form will be generated with the details which you submitted

Just download the application form and print it on an A4 size paper in black and white

Once taking a printout of the form, you will need to sign or thumbprint in the area where Applicant’s Signature/Thumbprint is mentioned

You don’t need to fill an additional form for your Aadhaar Enrolment at the Seva Kendra, just you need to take the printed form along with documents for the enrolment. The generated form will also contain details of your appointment like your appointment id, appointment date and time, and Aadhaar Seva Kendra Address.

If in case you skip this appointment then you can’t use this same form to enroll for Aadhaar as it contains the appointment id and date. You will need to book an appointment again.

If incase your City/ Location is not listed on the booking portal, then you can book an appointment by using the second option which is book an appointment at registrar run Aadhaar Kendra

Just click on the proceed to book an appointment button under book an Appointment at Registrar run Aadhaar Seva Kendra

A new page will get open to book an appointment for enrolment in which you will need to select your resident type from a resident or non-resident Indian

And then enter your email address or mobile number by selecting the field, solve the captcha code and click on send OTP button

Aadhaar Appointment Registrar

You will receive one-time-password on your email address or mobile number

Just check your inbox and enter the received OTP in the enter OTP field and click on the submit the OTP and proceed button

On the next page, two options will appear whether you want to make an appointment for new enrolment or update

New Enrolment Appointment

Just click on the new enrollment icon

Aadhaar Registrar Appointment Details

On the next page, you will need to mention your full name, date of birth, gender, resident type and click on the save and proceed button

In the next screen, it will ask you whether you have proof of identity and proof of address proof document on your name or you want to enroll on the basis of HOF

If you have your own documents then just click on I have valid documents as proof of Identity and Proof of Address and in case if you don’t have documents in your own name then just click on I want to enroll with my relative’s Aadhaar number or EID and I have a valid proof of Relationship document.

On next page, you will need to enter address details like C/O, House/Building/Apartment, Pincode, Street/Road/Lane, Area/Locality/Sector, Landmark, Village/Town/City, Post Office, District, State, mobile number, email address and click on the save and proceed button

If you have entered email id and mobile then you will need to verify it using OTP

On the next page review details will appear, just review your details and undertake the disclosure by tick marking on it and click on the submit button

Application Submitted

On the next page, Your application has been submitted message will appear and it will also mention the Appointment ID (AID)

So now to book an appointment just click on the book appointment button which is appearing below

Search Enrolment Center

On the next page, you will need to search for the center by entering a center name, Pincode or by location and click on get details

All center details will appear in the sidebar, just select the nearest center and click on the book appointment button which is appearing after the center details

Appointment Booking Slot

From the next screen select the date and time from the available slots and click on the submit button

Confirm Booking

A booking confirmation will appear with your details, just click on the confirm button to proceed further confirm the booking

On the next page, your prefilled Aadhaar Enrolment form will get generated on which your details will be already printed with booking id, date and time of the appointment and enrolment center details

Just download and print this form

You won’t need to fill any Aadhaar enrolment form at the center, you will need to take this printed form along with the documents on the appointment day and time for your enrolment of Aadhaar

  • If you have booked an appointment online then you will need to carry the printed form along with the documents and if you are directly walking into the center without an appointment then you will have to fill up Aadhaar Enrolment Form, you can get the Aadhaar Enrolment Form Free of cost from Aadhaar Kendra or you can even download online and take a printout of it by clicking here.
  • Just fill up each and every detail asked in the form, and don’t forget to mention your email id and mobile number as it is very important.
  • Visit Aadhaar Kendra with form and documents on the appointment day and time
  • Walk into the Aadhaar Kendra and submit your documents and form to them.
  • Your original documents will be verified, scanned, and return back to.
  • You will be asked to have a seat to proceed with your enrollment
  • All your details will be stored in the software and your biometric details like one photograph, both hands fingerprints, and both eyes iris will be captured
  • Next, you will be given Aadhaar Enrolment Receipt which you will have to keep safely with you, as it will be sole proof with you that you have enrolled yourself for Aadhaar Card.

Aadhaar Number will get issued to you on verification of your data by the UIDAI Verification Team which could take up to 1 -2 months. And once you get issued with the Aadhaar Number, it will take more than 1 month to receive your Aadhaar Hardcopy via Post. However, once you get issued with the Aadhaar Number you can download your Aadhaar Softcopy immediately in PDF format from the official UIDAI Website or the mAadhaar App.

Can I apply for Aadhaar Card without a surname, I do not have a surname?

Yes, if you don’t have a surname you can apply for Aadhaar without a surname. There are many cases in India where most of the residents don’t have a surname. You can provide the document while enrolment and get enrolled for Aadhaar without a surname.

Can I provide two address in Aadhar Card?

You can only provide one address which is the residential address in your Aadhaar. There isn’t any provision to add two addresses in Aadhaar Card or multiple addresses in Aadhaar Card such as office address, temporary address, permanent address, delivery address, etc.

Can I add more than one mobile number in Aadhaar Card?

No, you can only provide one mobile number for your Aadhaar Card. There isn’t any provision to add multiple mobile numbers in the Aadhaar Card.

Can one mobile number linked with more than one Aadhaar Card?

Yes, you can link one mobile number with more than one or multiple Aadhaar Card. In case if your family member doesn’t have a mobile number then anyone from the family who has a mobile can provide their number. For e.g. father or mother can provide their mobile number for their children’s Aadhaar if they don’t have a mobile number.

How many days it will take to get e-Aadhaar Card?

e-Aadhaar is a digital form of your Aadhaar. A resident can download or get e-Aadhaar Card Online from the UIDAI portal once their Aadhaar Number gets generated. So as soon as your receive an SMS on your mobile number stating your Aadhaar has been generated, you can straight away head on to UIDAI Portal URL and get your e-Aadhaar Card Instantly downloaded on your device.

How many days to get Aadhar card after enrollment?

Once you apply for Aadhaar, your application will be verified and reviewed by the UIDAI verification team and this process could take up to 1 to 3 months. In between 1 to 3 months you can get Aadhaar issued anytime, and once you get issued with Aadhaar Number, you will receive a hardcopy of your Aadhaar letter via post within 1 month.

Do I need a resident certificate to apply for Aadhaar Card?

No, a resident certificate is not required to apply for Aadhaar. You can get Aadhaar with the help of POI, POA, POR, and Proof of Date of Birth documents.

Why my Aadhaar enrollment request has been rejected due to a packet structure invalid error?

If your Aadhaar enrollment request is rejected due to the error packet structure being invalid, then it means your data was not captured correctly while the enrolment. In such a case, you need to enroll again by visiting the nearby Aadhaar enrolment center.

    Dear Sir/ Madam,

    My daughter is age 8 years +. She is Autistic child (Autism Spectrum Disorder ) Can’t speak, very hyper.
    We tried 3/4 times for Enrolling Aadhar. But failed.

    Every time photograph, fingerprint everything completed successfully. Iris Capture every time failed. She can’t see to the camera.

    In this condition how we can get AADHAR Card.

    This is required at earliest for her treatment and Handicap card getting purpose.

    Kindly help by giving a proper guidelines.

      Hello Tapan,

      It’s very sad to hear from you that you have to go through so much trouble to enroll your daughter for Aadhaar. What you can do is just try re-enrolling her for Aadhaar once more from different Aadhaar Seva Kendra or still the enrolment gets failed then just get in touch with Aadhaar regional office for proper resolution.
