Procedure to Change Father Name in Aadhar Card Online

Update: UIDAI has recently made changes on their portal, if you want to update or change your fathers name in Aadhaar then you will need to enter it by selecting C/O as S/O field is no more available and it has been revoked. All fields like S/O, D/O. W/O has been standardized it to C/O.

In order to update the father’s name in the Aadhaar card, it is necessary to make the modification in the “Care of” (C/O) field, which falls within the address section. As it falls within the address section, it is mandatory to provide the appropriate address proof document.

Update Aadhaar Online How it Works?

Once selecting Update Aadhaar Data Online, on next page how it works will be explained

Just click on the Proceed to Update Aadhaar button

Select any of the following Aadhaar data field(s) to update

From next screen, Select Address and Click on Proceed to Update Aadhaar

Enter Address

On next page, your current address registered with Aadhaar will be displayed and below that you need to enter the details which needs to be updated

In the Care of field, type the Fathers Name if it was incorrect mentioned earlier in your Aadhaar or if was not filled. In this field you can even enter mothers name or husbands name, if earlier your father’s name was submitted then the fathers name will be replaced by mothers name or husbands name or which ever name you add in this field

Once filling up the fathers name in the Care of field, enter your address in below fields

If it is same as earlier fill up the same address as earlier submitted, or if it has been changed recently then fill the latest address. But if you are filling the latest address then you also need to submit the address proof documents which is having the latest address

Document Upload Address Update

Once done, from the below option select manual upload or DigiLocker (if you have the documents in your DigiLocker account)

Select the document from the list which you will be submitting

Update Address Document Advisory

A document advisory will pop up, just click on Okay to proceed further

If selected manual upload, click on the View Details and Upload Document button

A popup will appear, in which you need to click on continue to upload button

Select the document from your device and upload it

Once the file is uploaded click on the next button

On next page, the preview will appear of details which you submitted

If everything is correct click on proceed

On next page you will need to make the payment for this Aadhar Father Name Correction Online update using debit card, credit card, or UPI

Your request for Change Father Name in Aadhar Card, or Add Father Name in Aadhar Card or Replace Father’s Name with Mothers or Husband Name will be submitted

On next screen you will get messaged displayed your update request has been successfully submitted and it will also show you URN (Update Request Number) which you can use to track the status of your correction.

The new details will get updated in your Aadhar Card Database in next 2 to 3 weeks, and you will be also intimated via SMS regarding the same.

You will also get your Aadhar Card Letter via post on your postal address, but if you want Aadhar Card with Father Name Corrected before that than once you receive SMS about correction done successfully you can download your electronic version of e-Aadhar Card Online.

      The relation and the relative’s name is a part of address field in Aadhaar. This was earlier mentioned as S/o D/o or W/o. Now UIDAI has standardized it to C/o. Filling this is optional. You can update the address in your Aadhaar and choose to give your father’s name on the C/o field or even leave it blank.
