Aadhar Card Password: The password-protected e-Aadhaar electronic PDF obtained from the Aadhaar Portal or mAadhaar app holds equivalent validity to the physical Aadhaar Letter dispatched via postal services. In instances where residents have not received the physical Aadhaar Letter, they retain the option to download the Aadhaar card from the UIDAI’s Official Website or the mAadhaar app.

Aadhar Card Password

The downloaded eAadhaar letter or PDF file includes the Aadhaar holder’s unique 12-digit identification number, accompanied by a photograph, full name, address, date of birth, gender, and mobile number. This renders the e-Aadhaar PDF equally valid and universally acceptable across the nation.

The Aadhaar PDF file is equipped with password protection, necessitating the Aadhaar holder to input a aadhaar unlock password for access. Opening the downloaded Aadhaar PDF file is contingent upon entering the designated password, and without this authentication, access to the PDF version of Aadhaar remains unattainable.

Why the Password has been assigned?

The e-Aadhaar is securely stored on UIDAI’s server in PDF format. One of the primary advantages of utilizing the PDF format is its inherent read-only nature, preventing any unauthorized modifications without leaving a trace in the form of an electronic footprint. Given its PDF format, UIDAI has implemented password security, ensuring an additional layer of protection. This feature proves beneficial when sharing documents via email, as only individuals possessing the Aadhaar document password can access its contents.

Upon downloading the e-Aadhaar PDF file, it automatically includes file protection. This prompts users to enter a password to view the document, safeguarding it from unauthorized access. UIDAI has incorporated this security measure to ensure that even if the Aadhaar PDF falls into the wrong hands, access remains restricted without a valid password.

The e-Aadhaar PDF password consists of a string with various character combinations, serving as the key to unlock the secured Aadhaar document in PDF format. Aadhaar, a unique 12-digit identification number containing the holder’s demographics and biometric details, can be obtained in the form of an Aadhaar Letter delivered via post. Alternatively, individuals can download it online from the official UIDAI web portal.

The online version of the Aadhaar is stored in PDF format on UIDAI’s server, allowing multiple downloads by the Aadhaar holder using mobile OTP authentication. However, the online e-Aadhaar PDF file is encrypted with password protection, ensuring that only the Aadhaar holder can open it using the designated passphrase.

To enhance security, UIDAI has recently changed the Aadhaar card password format. Notably, the postal address pin code, previously used as an Aadhaar card password, will no longer function for unlocking newly downloaded e-Aadhaar PDFs from the UIDAI portal.

While existing e-Aadhaar PDFs can still be unlocked using the old password (postal pin code), newly downloaded files require the entry of a new Aadhaar card password combination set by UIDAI. Upon downloading the e-Aadhaar Card PDF Letter, users must enter the specified Aadhaar password combination to successfully unlock or open the document.
